{"id":447,"date":"2021-12-05T04:14:01","date_gmt":"2021-12-05T04:14:01","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/texasdentalassistants.com\/?page_id=447"},"modified":"2022-11-03T05:01:35","modified_gmt":"2022-11-03T05:01:35","slug":"moving-to-texas","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/tdaa.org\/index.php\/moving-to-texas\/","title":{"rendered":"Moving To Texas?"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"has-text-align-justify\">Dental Assisting requirements, job titles and allowable functions vary from state to state because there is no national standardization.&nbsp; Different requirements exist for dental assistants in every state and many states do not accept another state credential.&nbsp; Texas Dental Assistants Association (TDAA) is here to help you understand our states requirements for working as a dental assistant in Texas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\"><strong>Registered Dental Assistant X-Ray Certification (RDA)&nbsp;<\/strong><br>To be in compliance with Texas Law, a Dental Assistant <u>may not position or expose dental x-rays<\/u> unless the Dental Assistant is REGISTERED with the Texas State Board of Dental Examiners (TSBDE).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center has-nv-light-bg-background-color has-background has-medium-font-size\"><strong>PATHWAY #1 FOR RDA<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\">To become registered or an RDA, you must complete a <a href=\"https:\/\/tsbde.texas.gov\/78i8ljhbj\/RDA-Licensure_202207-1.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">TSBDE dental assistant application<\/a>.<br> The application process involves several steps.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Step 1 &#8211; Prior to completing the application, you must have:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Paid all application, examination, and licensing fees<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Have graduated from an accredited high school or hold a certificate of high school equivalency, General Equivalency Diploma (GED).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Have successfully completed a current hands-on course in basic life support (BLS).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Have taken and passed a dental assistant registration course of instruction and an examination administered by an approved TSBDE provider. <a href=\"https:\/\/tsbde.texas.gov\/licensing\/dental-assistants\/texas-dental-assistant-schools\/\">Link to approved courses<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A&nbsp; 2 x 2 passport photo<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Copy of driver\u2019s license, naturalization papers, or passport.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>National Practitioner Data Bank (NPDB) self-query report.&nbsp; The report results must remain in the original sealed envelope and be included with your application and is only valid for 60 days.&nbsp;<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"http:\/\/www.npdb.hrsa.gov\/pract\/howToGetStarted.jsp\" target=\"_blank\">Link to NPDB<\/a>. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Complete a course in human trafficking prevention approved by the executive commissioner of the Texas Health and Human Services Commission and include with your application. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hhs.texas.gov\/services\/safety\/texas-human-trafficking-resource-center\/health-care-practitioner-human-trafficking-training\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">Link to approved courses<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Step 2 &#8211; Application <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Complete TSBDE dental assistant application<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Notarize the application and mail copies of everything to:<br>Texas State Board of Dental Examiners | 1801 Congress Avenue, Suite 8.600 | Austin, Texas 78701<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-justify\"><strong>Step 3 &#8211; Fingerprint Session<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-justify\">This is done for the retrieval of criminal history record information.
